Installing and using Eye of the Storm FAQ

Eye of the Storm, a shareware PC program features three different kinds of maps, gets updates automatically imported from the National Hurricane Center, and the ability to track past storms. The program also allows Web users to check the latest aroundcentralflorida.com weather forecasts by clicking the program's weather links icon. The program also links users to our hurricane guide.

Before downloading Eye of the Storm, check the security settings in your browser so it allows downloads..

NOTE: If Internet Explorer's browser security settings are set too high, the browser will not prompt you to open or save the Eye of the Storm installation file.

Verify whether your firewall software prevents installation/executable file downloads from the Internet. Check the firewall software help files or visit its Web site for more information.

Steps to begin using Eye of the Storm:

Click the image in Figure 1 to download Eye of the Storm.

Click Save in the dialog in Figure 2 and save the program to your desktop or to a folder.

Once the download has been completed, double click the icon acfeots.exe to install the program. Once installed click the Eye of the Storm 2004 icon to run the program.

The User Registration dialog box will appear (Figure 3). Click the Trial button for the free trial version or the Purchase button to purchase Eye of the Storm.

Once the program runs, click the Fetch Advisories button seen in Figure 4.

A Registration Reminder dialog box appears. Click the Later button to view the free trial version or the Purchase On-Line button to buy Eye of the Storm. It takes a few seconds for the buttons to become active (not grayed out). It also takes a few seconds for the program to update on your computer screen once you click either button.

Note: The trial version prompts you to register now or later every time it tries to get a storm advisory. Keep this in mind when setting advisory updates on a particular interval, because you must click Register or Later button during the interval or every time you click the Fetch Advisories button.
